Every law firm has a beginning. Ours started not in a courtroom, but in a classroom. The Legist Auxiliary was founded in 2007 by two friends who shared not just a classroom but a vision for a different kind of legal practice.
The People Behind the Practice
Bharat Gupta and Varun Tyagi, both 2007 graduates of the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, represent the fresh perspective and determination that define our firm. As first-generation lawyers, they brought not just legal knowledge but the drive to build something meaningful from the ground up.

Varun Tyagi, Partner
Hailing from the holy city of Haridwar, Mr. Varun Tyagi relocated to Delhi in 2003 to pursue higher education. After completing an LL.B. from the esteemed Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, he became the first lawyer in several generations of his family.
An accomplished professional with diverse legal expertise, Mr. Tyagi specialises in criminal litigation—a field he finds particularly compelling. The pursuit of defending innocent individuals falsely implicated in criminal cases drives his professional commitment and reinforces a steadfast dedication to justice.
Beyond the courtroom, Mr. Tyagi is an accomplished sports enthusiast with interests in cricket, tennis, and badminton. A passionate reader and scholar, he has also contributed to legal education as a guest lecturer at FORE School of Management, Delhi.
Bharat Gupta, Partner
Mr. Bharat Gupta hails from a business family with a powerful presence among India's leading candle manufacturers for over seven decades. Choosing to forge his own path, he became a first-generation lawyer, building a distinguished legal career spanning over 19 years.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science (Hons.) from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi (2004), and a Law degree from the prestigious Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi (2007).
Mr. Gupta currently serves as Counsel for the Delhi Development Authority and the Government of NCT of Delhi before the Hon'ble Delhi High Court. He has also served as a Member of the Disciplinary Committee, Delhi Medical Council (2015–2025), where he brought valuable regulatory insight to the adjudication of numerous medical negligence matters.
The Legist Auxiliary has expanded its horizons into a new field of law — Medical Negligence — through a strategic collaboration with Dr. Arun Gupta Medical Negligence Chambers, established in 2025 and co-founded by Dr. Arun Gupta, former President of the Delhi Medical Council. This collaboration enables the firm to handle Medical Negligence matters Pan-India, representing clients before Consumer Forums, Magistrate Courts at the FIR stage, and Medical Councils.
